I've had an argos card since they first bought them out around 8 years ago, as I found having a store card to Argos was very useful, you never know what you might need and if you haven't got the cash for what you need then it could end up being a problem. Having an Argos card give you the ability to purchase more or less anything that you may need to replace in an emergency and is relatively cost effective too.

When enrolling for an Argos card, you go through the normal credit procedure to ensure that you are eligible to have a card, depending on your credit history and also to set your credit limit on your card. Initially I was given a ridiculous limit which is what credit card companies do to try and get your into debt as they benefit from the interest that they receive when you only pay the minimum payment. I had my account capped at £1000, which enables you to spend safely and not overdo it too much.

Argos, as with other credit card companies actually give you the option of what design you would like on your creditr card, not that this matters at all because it sits in your purse or wallet and does it really matter what it looks like at the end of the day. However they give you three options to choose from as your design on the card.

The Argos card offers many benefits, I feel more so than other card companies, you regularly receive newsletters with your statements with money off vouchers when you £50, it goes on normal credit in which you have 30 days to pay before you start to get charged interest on the purchase. However if you spend over certain amounts, you can obtain up to 3 months and 6 months interest free credit, and they always make you aware when this period is about to expire so that you can pay it off if you want to and avoid any interest being charged.

Statements are forwarded on a monthly basis that detail your account number, credit limit, details on any recent purchases that you have made, details of normal credit and also details of what you have on 3 month or 6 month terms, minimum payment and account balance.

There are various options of how to pay your account. The easiest option is to pay by direct debit, in which they will take your minimum payment every month or a particular sum of money that you request to be debited. You can pay via online banking with your own bank or by giro at their particular bank and ost office without being charged.

I find the Argos card extremely useful when you are in need of something pretty quick. I only use it in emergencies and don't take advantage of it too much. It comes in use around Christmas when people may have a lot of expenditure and you just want a little longer to pay off what you spend over Christmas. Its one of the better options if you feel you need a card to help you out.

Payment Protection is available which is £1.30 for every £100 that you spend, this covers you if you become unemployed or sick and are unable to pay the amounts that are due. I don't actually have payment protection on mine, however if you are a bit uncertain its always good to take it out.

Extremely useful card with great benefits.
