 Bank of Scotland Credit Card

Bank of Scotland

Newest Review: ... son went into hospital for 6 weeks, I rang them and explained the situation and why I was late and paid the outstanding amount, I also asked whether it would show on my credit rating, the lady I spoke to assured me it would not, well she either lied or had no idea what she was speaking about as I have checked my experian account and they have put me as being 2 months late. I rang them and asked about it and got basically fobbed off, and to add insult to injury they charged me a £12.00 late fee which they are refusing to credit back. I am now in the process of closing the account and will never ever go with this bank again, they are tota... more

I have a visa card through this bank and I am very unhappy indeed. I forgot to pay them a few months back because my youngest son went into hospital for 6 weeks, I rang them and explained the situation and why I was late and paid the outstanding amount, I also asked whether it would show on my credit rating, the lady I spoke to assured me it would not, well she either lied or had no idea what she was speaking about as I have checked my experian account and they have put me as being 2 months late. Last year I took out a Bank of Scotland affinity credit card to benefit the Cats Protection League and set up a fixed monthly payment through Direct Debit. On 4th December 2003 I telephoned Bank of Scotland to change this instruction to the minimum payment. On 12th December, I received a statement dated 5th December. The statement advised that next payment for the fixed amount would be taken on 30th December. I immediately telephoned Bank of Scotland to find out why the change of instruction had not been processed. The Telephone Advisor confirmed that her notes recorded the conversation from 4th December, and that she could not understand why the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bank of Scotland: Master card service declining (272 words)

I recently forgot to make a payment for the first time in years and was surprised to be billed not only at their exhorbitant interest rate but also fined £25. What is this for? When I tried to call I found their old number had an anouncement telling me to call 0845 which charges more to connect to. Then I get a robot asking me for the expiry date - never asked for this before so had to get card and call back. After five minutes of tapping in numbers and requesting a human it abrubtly told me they were shut and to call back. I took another look on the statement and no idea what hours they are open is given. Is this too much to ask? I suspect they are all the same or worse ...  Read the complete review

I have had a Bank of Scotland Master Card for a couple of years now and have never had any trouble with it. There is no annual charge (which is great) and, as it's an affinity card, for every £100 I spend, 25p is donated to the good cause of my choice (the Red Cross). I'm not sure if every good cause is supported but I think there's quite a wide variety and I certainly think more credit cards should offer this feature. Also with the Bank of Scotland, there are regular competitions with prizes such as holidays to be won. The number of times you've used your card in the month running up to the draw = the number of entries you have in the draw. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bank of Scotland: BoS One Visa - Lowwwww APR! (761 words)

The One Visa card from The Bank of Scotland is the card that would suit me best if I were not a student. The only thing that makes me use my NatWest Student MasterCard more (see separate op, under NatWest) is that I get a good APR on the NatWest one while I am a student, and I can view my account on-line with NatWest. The One Visa does stand up very, very well though. It has a very low APR of just 13.9% variable on purchases and 15.7% variable on cash. Now unless you earn enough to be looking at Gold/Platinum cards, and a fair few of us don't, then that's about the best deal you are going to get from any High Street Bank. The card is ...  Read the complete review
