I have had a Barclaycard for years now - i think it must be one of the most famous cards around. I originally got it straight out of uni in order to do a balance transfer as they had a 0% rate which appealed to me as you could use it for balance transfers for 9months or on purchases for 3months. As i was waiting to start my job it was a great way to make some essential purchases without losing cash in the bank and i just made sure i paid it off within this 3 month period.

Since then i have used the card on and off depending on when they have balance transfer offers and 0% on purchases offers - they often send existing customers deals too - it's not just for the new customers which i think is a great idea as it creates loyalty.

Compared with other cards the purchase interest rate as standard was about 19.9% last time i checked so about average at the moment but i still recommend paying off the whole balance each month if you intend to use this card for purchases.

You can use the card almost everywhere - Barclaycard now have a Visa and a Mastercard (mine is a Visa) which are both recognised all over the world.

Summary: Great for Barclays customers and anyone wanting a reliable card
