Fraud busters! (Barclaycard)

Advantages: Good customer service

I have had a barclaycard since I was at uni as they were doing a great cashback offer of 5% for the first three months. I now have a different cashback barclaycard card that pays cashback at 1% up to a certain level, then 0.5%. Cashback is paid into our account, so reducing the balance. Cashback cards are a great idea provided you always pay off the balance in full.

Barclaycard have proved good at spotting fraud on my account and notifying me (it is in their interests, after all, as they end up bearing the losses from fraud). When my card was skimmed several years ago they sent me a letter saying they suspected fraud on my account with a freephone number to call. The problem was sorted out quickly and painlessly, all I had to do was note down what transactions weren't mine and I wasn't charged for them.

Recently, they again proved helpful when a company were taking unauthorised payments from our card. They cancelled our card, issued another one and gave us a refund for the disputed transactions.

So, customer service wise I can recommend them. I can't speak for how good the interest rate is as we never use the card to borrow money, always paying the balance off in full each month.

Summary: Customer service a pleasure to deal with.
