High Interest Rates - but - Great Service (Barclaycard)

Advantages: Good security, acceptable all over the place.

Disadvantages: High interest rates.

I got a Barclaycard when I opened a student bank account at my local Barclay's branch. It was the first credit card I got, so I didn't really know what was good or not. As I was offered it, I though I might as well get one.

I'm not gonna say they are bad. But they aren't the best credit card providers I have come accross. The best thing about them is the security you get when you use the card, especially online. Although if you have any discrepancies they are usually delt with by Visa Card Services, as with all Visa credit cards.

I have used the card for over a year now, although I don't actually use it much now. I think the interest rates are too high. They are about 26% on purchases. I got an egg card a few weeks ago (see my opinion) and there interest rate is 12.9% on purchases which is much better. Barclaycard's interests rates just aren't competitive.

I like having one though, it gives me a sense of security. I know that if I am short of cash one week/month, I have a credit card to fall back on.

There online facility is good, you can manage your account extensively on there. I have paid my monthly bills online everytime. It is very convienient.

My advice would be to shop around. I personally think an egg card is best, although you most probably can find better out there.
