I had a Barclaycard for many years. The reason I decided to go for a Barclaycard in the first place was that I had my bank account there and it just seemed easier to keep it all with the same bank. Well, easier it might have been. However for this you pay yearly charges of £ 10, another £ 10 for insurance, and a very high interest rate compared to other credit cards. If you are a big spender like me and only always pay of the minimum amount, the difference in interest rate is quite important. This is why I decided to have a credit card with Egg instead and transfer my balance at 0% interest rate for the first 6 months. This should give you enough time to catch up with your payments to a more convenient level where the interest rate does not really matter that much. But even then you pay a much lower interest rate with Egg. I am not trying to promote Egg, lots of other credit cards offer cheaper interest rates. The service of Barclaycard has always been very reliable until I wanted to cancel my account. I had a very big argument with Customer Services and they finally agreed to be so kind not to charge me for the £ 10 insurance (which was invoiced after I cancelled my card). So, I would not recommend it. There are plenty of other cards around and there really is no need to throw your money away.
