Advantages: 0% interest for the life of the balance on transfers, only have to spend £1 a month to qualify, generally moderate interest on purchases.

Disadvantages: none that i can think of.

At last I can finally start to get out of my debt created as a student. For the last 4 years I've been trying so hard to get my debt down...now I've got a platinum barclaycard it's finally dropping.
I had a couple of other cards - one high interest and one not too bad. I cleared one when I got my mortgage and reduced the other. However, every month I just seemed to be paying off the interest and not much of the balance. Then I saw an ad for Barclaycard - they offered 0% interest for the life of the balance if I transferred my debt. All I have to do is spend £1 a month on my my card.
When my first bill came through, I was so glad to see that my payment had actually made a dent in the debt and no interest had been charged. Give it about 6 months and I should be debt free.

The offer is still valid at the moment but the amount you have to spend differs on what card they give you. For a standard card, you have to spend about £30 a month, for a gold it's about £20 a month and for the platinum it's only £1.

Get one and get saving.

Yes, I've just transferred a lump of debt over to them for 0% but I have to spend £50 a month. Whatever, it has made a tremendous difference compared to the wicked interest rates I was paying and I specifically spend the fifty quid in Boots and Superdrug and make sure I pay it as soon as I'm billed.

Lamorna in a 'they might well do your back some good' kinda way ;-)

A great way to manage your debt. Hope you clear it soon.

It is good to see the debt coming down. It pays to look around the various credit cards. I have transferred my Amex card which can't be used in many stores to Egg.
