Advantages: great service
Disadvantages: high interest rate
I have always had fantastic service from Barclycard. When I got married and changed my name, i arrived back from honeymoon to a bottle of champagne from the them with a note saying congratulations from Barclaycard. They have been fantastic in terms of credit limit upgrades, they have a direct debit service so you dont have to remember to pay the minimum payment as its automatically done for you. However there are a few negative points. They have a pretty naff rewards system and you need to spend quite a lot to get the silliest items. So it cost about £4000 to buy an iron in terms of points that kind of thing. My major complaint at the moment is the interest rate, its a fantastic rate if you're transferring a balance but if you're not the rate is a good deal higher than many other cards. If you dont pay your balance off every month (which we sometiems dont) this is quite a major deciding factor as you can pay quite a bit more in interest over the long run.

- 04/06/02 I think most cards have their good points as well as their bad points.
They will all try to get your money, after all thats why they are in business.
Good Op :o)............Pete |

- 30/04/01 Just checked out the website to apply for one - they offer 6.9% for the life of the balance transfer providing you use at least one facility on the account every month - otherwise they will charge you the standard interest rate for the entire balance ouch!!!!! - knocks down the idea of saving yourself some money - thanks bu no thanks - think I will stick to my current supplier - interest c 1.83% per month

- 01/10/00 I was always embarrassed to use my Barclaycard as it was slagged off in the financial press every week.29% interest and £12 fee etc. When I eventually cancelled they offered to waive the fee,but why have it in the first place.I'm with EGG now and have no complaints to date. |
