Not as good as it used to be (BHS store card)

Advantages: Now being a credit card means you can use in other stores too

Disadvantages: No initial attraction to apply anymore

I joined with a BHS storecard years ago when i bought my first house and needed to buy all the essentials like duvets, pillows etc etc. At the time if you applied for the card i think i received an extra 20% off of my purchase which i thought was great at the time and i intended to pay the balance off all in one go which i did. You also got invited to private cardholders events and sale previews in the store which was good and free tea or coffee in the restaurant when you were making a purchase.

From what i can gather now the new BHS 'storecard' is actually a Mastercard and when you sign up you don't actually receive any extra discount other than the usual interest free period that you receive from all credit cards so i don't think there are so many benefits.

This card was great for me when i first got it but now i rarely use it and i wouldn't have signed up originally without the added bonus of 20% off my purchases.

Summary: Used to be a good money saver not so much now
