Advantages: Easy to build up points, regular points offer

Disadvantages: Some items can be more expensive

I love it when companies reward you! Boots is one of the best out there for providing you with something for shopping at their store.
I am a member of quite a few reward schemes, this allows me to see which is the best out of a handful.

Although some items in Boots may be slightly more expensive that the supermarket but one thing I have found is that Boots own brands are fantastic and are at lower prices and the essentials range is ideal for someone strapped for cash.

*~*What is the Advantage Card?*~*

The Boots Advantage Card is for UK residents and Republic of Ireland residents, it is a reward card that offers you points every time you make a purchase online or in a Boots Store and points can be built up and redeemed against almost everything you see in store.

The Advantage card scheme is promoted by Boots and anyone can join, however one point to note is that if you have a UK Advantage card it is not accepted in the Republic of Ireland and vice versa.

You can register in store for an advantage card or online, if you register instore you can collect the instant advantage card which can be used up until your permanant card arrives.

*~*How Do I collect points*~*

A massive 4 points are earned for every purchase you make either at Boots online or in store apart from Boots Opticians where you will earn 1 points for every £1 spent.

Points are not currently rewarded for infant milks up to the age of 6 months, prescription items, gift cards or vouchers or postage stamps.

In order to collect the points via the Boots Website you will need to store your Advantage card number in your account online and each time you make a purchase points will be rewarded.
When shopping in store you will need to present your Advantage card at the point of sale for the points to be credited and a new total will be provided on your till receipt.

Many of the stores now offer Advantage Card points which allow you to insert your card in store and find bonus point coupons and exclusive in store offers here I tend to find a coupon which will offer extra points when you spend over £15 etc.

Magazines are also sent quarterly to customers with coupons that can be used on 2 separate occasions again entitling you to bonus points and they also send out offers relevant to what you have previously purchased in store which I find useful.

*~*Spending Points*~*

Points can only be redeemed in store they cannot currently be redeemed at Boots online, which is a little disappointing or someone that does not have a Boots locally.
1 points = 1 penny therefore if you have 1120 points on your Advantage card then this would allow you to purchase items with your points on items totalling £11.20.
Points can be spent on almost anything in store apart from gift card or vouchers, infant milks, mobile phone top up cards, boots opticians, postage stamps and Boots Travel Services.
I tend to build all my points up and use them for perfumes or electrical items. You will see a star next to the item price in store and this will indicate if you can spend your points on this item.

When purchasing a product with your points you do need to have the full amount and the total price will be taken from your Advantage card, part payment with points is not accepted.
If you are paying with your points you will need to hand over your advantage card and ask them to pay for the items with your points and they will deduct the amount required.

*~*Can I get additional Cards for my partner?*~*

No, simply you can pass your card as I do, to your partner or other family member to collect points but additional cards are not sent out and you cannot request duplicate cards either.

*~*Is it worth it?*~*
Yes, I always join reward schemes as I like to offer loyalty to stores that give something back and Boots operates one of the best schemes out there. I always find that my points build up really quickly enabling me to reap the benefits pretty quickly.
I find the triple points events fantastic and the fact that I can get points on pretty much everything and get anything back it is fantastic.
My partner thinks it is a waste of time but I think that its great especially if you are little short of cash and you want a bit of pampering, here you can just get bubble bath or a nice bottle of perfume to cheer you up.
One factor I found out recently and to be honest I am not surprised is that when you purchase and item if you return it to the store you will not receive the points, they will be deducted from your advantage card if you have a refund.

Summary: An excellent rewards scheme ideal for Christmas too

I built up a ridiculous amount of points on my card and now I don't know what to buy! I just wish that they brought back the treat rewards they had in the first place (pamper days etc) cos I'd love one now!

Even though I have a card and have signed up online ages ago now, I never seem to get coupons or free samples as a lot of people seem to do. Lisa x
