Advantages: Treat yourself for free

Disadvantages: Can't always claim offers when paying with points

Boots advantage card

This is in my opinion the best reward card on the market. You get 4 points back for every pound you spend meaning you get at least a 4% discount before you start looking at other offers. You can then use these points to pay for anything inside the Boots store.

Say you wanted to treat yourself to a nice bergamot and vanilla bubble bath but you didn't want to waste £4.99 on a frivolous indulgence. Check your Boots card and if you have 499 points all you need to do is hand your card and your purchase over to the smiling usually overly made-up girl behind the counter and hey presto an evening of indulgence is yours.

Boots also do great offers to help you to accumulate points such as buy two packs of nappies and receive 500 points. When I was stocking up a few years ago I often got brand name nappies with three offers on e.g. Huggies nappies £8.99 per packet

Buy two for £15.00
Get 500 points when you spend £15.00 on baby items
Get 100 points for spending £10 in Boots.
Then you got 60 points back for spending £15.00 in the first place

Granted these sort of offers didn't happen all the time and didn't always work together but when they worked they were amazing. I found it very easy to save up all year and then spend my points on presents for family\friends at Christmas.

The only drawback to this scheme is that you are sometimes not eligible for some of the special offers eg. not allowed to use money off vouchers etc. when you are paying by points.

There are also machines inside each Boots store called ACMs. If you put your card into one of these machines (looks like an ATM) each time your enter the shop you will get offers of the day especially chosen for you.

I have had coupons for extra points, free hair colour, free trial sized designer haircare bottles, free bubble baths etc. This is definitely worth doing every time you go in. You can also be given vouchers for linksaves eg buy protect and perfect and one other No. 7 moisturiser and save £10.00.

If you add the ACM offers, the £2.00 of products vouchers, the 4 points on the pound rate and the many 3 for 2 and link save offers this has to be the best reward scheme around.

Apply online or instore

Hope that helps

I use my Boots points to buy their meal deals when I have been too lazy to make myself some sandwiches!
I join all their clubs too as you often get freebies ad vouchers for loads of extra points.
