Advantages: Very generous rewards
Disadvantages: You need the full points to buy items with your points
I recently visited my local Boots store when I was in town and it was only when I got to the till and was asked if I had an advantage card that I began to think...........I am sure I used to have one of those!
I explained to the assistant that I had lost it and was given a number to ring. I phone the helpline and gave them all my details. They informed me that a replacement card would be sent within the next three weeks, it arrived within three days! Out of curiosity I asked if I had any points and was informed I had 1,300 which would be transferred to my new card! This was equivalent to £13 so I was very pleased that they hadn't just written me off for not using the card and honoured my old points!
This is the only reward card I use other than the Tesco Clubcard as I feel these two cards offer the best rewards for consumers.
The advantage card is basically a customer loyalty card but it is the most generous one I have come across!
For every pound you spend instore or online you get four points. Every point is the equivalent to a penny so 100 points are equivalent to £1.
There are often many offers on products in Boots where you can gain extra advantage card points for purchasing the specific product. It s well worth looking out for these offers as they really boost your points total!
In Boots stores there are advantage card kiosks where you can also pick up extra offers. Basically you put your card into the slot and various offers come up on screen for discounts on products or extra points. When you have selected from the touch screen the offer you would like a receipt is prited for you to use at the checkout.
You Can spend your points instore on most items, however you cannot spend them online or on prescriptions or gift vouchers. You will need the full amount of points to get the item you want, for example you choose a moisturiser for £5.99 you will need 599 points. You cannot use your points to pay for partial costs of items.
You can easily check your points balance on Boot's website (www.boots.com). When you purchase items in store your points receieved for your purchase are shown at the bottom of your receipts along with your total number of points.
I tend to save my points to buy Christmas presents but I do also treat myself every now and then!
Summary: A must for any woman's (and man's!) purse!

- 11/10/08 Couldn't agree more, sometimes they do those vouchers and the extra points almost pay for the item itself! My mum is always in Boots and uses the points to get loads of presents at christmas! |
