Advantages: 4 points for £1, lots of bonus point offers

Disadvantages: Boots can be slightly more expensive than similar stores

The Boots Advantage care is one of the best loyalty cards I have personally used. For every £1 you spend you get 4 points, and each point is worth 1p. Initially that doesn't seem very generous, but boots frequently have what they call 'points events' where you can earn double or triple points, so it's really easy to build up your points balance quickly. They also often give away extra points if you buy certain products. For example my boyfriend bought 3 Clinique products at the weekend and I got 1000 points back on my card (which is £10.00 of free points!)

Every 6 weeks or so I receive a mailing through the post which contains more point offers and special offers, there are usually a couple which I don't use or don't apply to me, but usually they are relevant offers that I can take advantage of to boost my points.

An added bonus of being a Boots Advantage card holder is that I can pick up a free copy of their health and beauty magazine, which I think they publish every couple of months. For a magazine junkie like myself this is a great freebie and again there are often points coupons or offers contained inside.

As an advantage card holder if you buy 5 meal deals though the course of a month you get your 6th one free. They cost £2.99 and for that you get a sandwich/wrap/salad, plus a drink and a snack, they range from very healthy to indulgent so there is usually always something to suit my food and taste for that day.

Point make prizes so as your points mount up you can spend them on most things in store, I like to treat myself with designer make up when I've got enough points, because it's a treat I wouldn't usually be able to afford.

Summary: Collect points and treat yourself
