Advantages: Can save points on things you need to buy anyway

Disadvantages: Can't use for part payment

It seems these days that your purse is filled with loyalty cards for everywhere. Boots loyalty card has been around for about ten years.

Boots is a designed as a high street chemist but as the company has gown they sell there own range of make up, beauty products medicines, toys, and baby products and children clothes. The range depends on how big the stores are.

Boots advantage card is like many other loyalty schemes but it seems to pay higher than most as you receive 4 point for every pound you spend which is the equivalent of 4p in rewards.

I didn't used to use Boots very often as it was usually more expensive than Superdrug but as Super drug's prices are now similar to boots I do tend to shop at Boots.

You can get points on everything you buy except prescriptions and with a small child your points do soon build up for buying what you need anyway.

They do have bonuses. If you insert your card in the advantage machines in store they have offers which you can print out a coupon for

They have an offer in the meal deals for advantage card customers. You can buy a meal deal which is a sandwich, a drink and a choice of crisps or fruit for £2.99. I often buy these if I am out with my son at lunchtime. If you buy 5 within a month you can get a 6th free. I don't usually buy that many but if you get your lunch from there it is an added bonus

If you join the parents club you can also get bonuses on baby products.

You can redeem your points to pay for any items in store but you must be able to pay for it all in points and you can't use your points as part payment.

I always like to use my points to buy something luxurious or significant not just use them up to buy nappies but I have used them for basic items when I have been short of cash.

I can remember buying 3 significant items in the past two years. An ELC bumble bee that was the first toy my son ever picked for himself by smiling at giving it a big hug, a door bouncer which was on offer for £10 which he loved for a very short time and a bottle of Paris Hilton perfume for me which was in the clearance. As this is rewards for items I would have purchased anyway it definitely is a card to keep in my purse.

If you shop at boots it is worth carrying one around as you don't get much for nothing these days.

Summary: A great loyalty scheme
