Advantages: Points quickly add up, 4 points for every £1 spent, can collect and spend on almost anything

Disadvantages: Where's the disadvantages in free treats??

The Boots Advantage Card is the most generous loyalty scheme card offered by shops in the UK. If offers an amazing 4 points for every £1 that is spent on anything in stores or online. 1 point is equal to 1p so you can see how this quickly adds up if you shop in Boots a lot, like I do. Simply buying a few mobile phone credit top ups adds a lot of points up and you can end up with a nice free treat after a few months.

The card is a simple but attractive one with the trade mark Boots signatures - white background with the blue Boots symbol in the centre. The card states that it is an advantage card and has the phrase 'time to treat yourself' on it in pink. You can also find your name and advantage card number on the front.

Points can be collected in store and online on almost anything apart from prescriptions, gift vouchers, stamps or infant milks. Every time you make a purchase in Boots stores and use your advantage card, the receipt will show you how many points you have just received as well as how many points you now have in total and the total this amounts to in pounds. When you shop at boots.com just enter your advantage card number when making the purchases. You can then enter your card into the Advantage Card Extra Offers Kiosk machines in Boots stores 5 days after you've made your order and the points will be added on automatically.

Points can only be spent in store and not online and can be spent on everything except the same items as listed above. If you have enough points to use on a purchase just tell the cashier that you want to pay with your points and the amount will be taken off the card total. It's a brilliant card as, when all the points mount up, you can end up saving a lot of money and getting something for absolutely free! I have accumulated 1476 points at the moment which amounts to £14.76 which will get me a nice few little treats or some much needed items. You can check your balance either online by registering and signing into your account or on the Advantage Card machines in stores.

To sign up for an Advantage Card just pick up and fill in an application form in store or sign up online. The application form from the store will have an Instant Advantage Card attached to it which you can use until you've sent off your information and received your permanent card.

An extra bonus of having this card is that Boots regularly offer other deals such as triple points on certain purchases, a free copy of the Boots Health & Beauty magazine, and buy 5 meal deals in the space of one month and get the 6th free - great for those people who often buy work lunches from Boots. You will also be regularly given vouchers after purchases for money off certain products - £5 No7 vouchers are one of the more popular offers which usually come out before Christmas so it makes for some great value gifts.

Summary: The most generous loyalty card in the UK
