Advantages: 4 points per pound, various promotions
Disadvantages: internet points problems
I always love a store which offers a loyalty scheme. Many of the larger stores these days do offer these fantastic schemes which seems to give every shopper the incentive to spend more money.
The Boots advantage card is by far one of my favorite cards. Mainly because the points seem to add up so quickly and the ways in which I can spend them are endless.
With a massive 4 points per pound you can imagine how quickly these points add up. Every point is equal to a penny so in theory for every pound you spend you recieve 4p back. Not bad I would say.
The points can be spend in any boots store, redeemable against your shopping. Unfortunately though you can only use your points to pay if you have ebough to cover the whole balance. For instance - You have 600 points and you want to buy something which is £7.00, they will not allow you to use you balance of 600 points (£6.00) and add the other pound because it does not cover the whole amount. You would have to wait until you had 700 points in order to use it. This does cause a certain amount of problems but as I say it is easy to collect points so you just have to be patient.
Points are not awarded for certain products such a baby milk. Although this is the same with many loyalty schemes I find this frustrating as baby milk is an essential and it would give me more incentive to buy it in Boots rather than anywhere else.
There are many opportunitys to collect extra points such as promotions offering double points and extra points againts a certain spend. Vouchers for these type of offers can be picked up at the Boots advantage card Kiosk in store as can many other offers only avaliable to Boots advantage card holders. These are only avaliable at the kiosk though and will not be posted through your door.
There are certain health and baby clubs you can join with your advantage card and although I can only comment on the parenting club, if that is anything to go by I would say FANTASTIC. I get monthly mailings full of vouchers and discounts to use against my baby products and when I first joined I got a free basic changing bag.
There is one major downfall and something which does let the card down and that is that whilst it can be used online the points from that spend have to be collected in store. This causes problems because I always seem to forget to collect my points and you only have 2 weeks to do so from time of delivery so time is quite tight.
It is extrememly easy to use, just hand to the cashier when you go to pay and she will add the points onto your card for you. The card can be used in any boots store and be sure to keep track of your account online as you can see exactly how many points you have got and how many you need for exactly what you want.
If you haven't already got one, get one. THEY'RE FREE!!
Summary: Overall a great loyalty card
