Advantages: Free to get a card, 4 points per £1, can be used in the photo section
Disadvantages: Have to have amount you want to spend on card, you can't put money towards it.
Wow! This sure is a card for barginistas. With 4 points to every pound you'll find yourself hooked on using it.
The points build up so easily it's pretty unreal. Use it every time you shop in Boots for 3/4 months and then when you next check it you'll have £5/£10 on it. The cash builds up surprisingly fast; a penny here and a penny there make a big difference.
The Boots card is the only real loyalty card that I own and so I don't really have anything to compare it to. But from personal experience it's great to have one to be able to treat yourself to the occasional nail varnish, or face cream or even lunch!
The only thing that I find annoying about this card is the fact that you have to have the correct (or higher) amount of money on the card to purchase something with it. For example, you couldn't buy a £7 lipstick if you had £6.99 on the card even if you put the penny towards it. This seems to me, like a bit of an odd policy but perhaps it's something to do with the card, and I suppose they'd have people buying things using 4p on the card which would get a bit stupid after a while.
The card can be used when using Boots photo service although I'm not entirely sure about the pharmacy.
In most stores there are little pink and white booths that can tell you how much credit you have on your card as well as letting you change your personal details. The booths offer printable vouchers that you can use in store to get more points when you buy a product (sometimes they have vouchers such as "an extra 100 points when you present this voucher when buying a <<name of product>>". This is always handy if you want to boost your points.
You are also able to take a Boots magazine to the till and show your card and get the magazine absolutely free! The Boots magazine is one of my favourites because they don't focus solely on their own products like some other shops magazines do.
I usually use my card when buying lunch from Boots (the £2.99 "meal deal" offer they are currently running) and so I get 8 points...or 8 pence which is added to your card total.
So overall, I'd say that even if you only shop in Boots occasionally it's definitely worth picking up a card and using it whenever you can...you'll be surprised how quickly it adds up!
Summary: A great card for anyone who frequently shops in Boots.

- 15/06/09 Tesco Clubcard is better with their deals promotion. The thing is you need to be careful you don't just go to Boots for the points because overall it's more expensive than supermarkets and places like superdrug. Good review x |

- 15/06/09 Look out for the extra reward booth in larger stores...they often give extra points on certain products, and sometimes an extra say, 300 points if you spend £25.00 on valifying products, not that I'm addicted as well ;-) |
