Advantages: Money for nothing
Disadvantages: Points cannot be used as part-payment
I am a firm believer in store loyalty cards as in hard times such as these who can possibly turn down money for nothing. If your going to spend the money on products anyway why not take a few pence back from the company you are buying from. It may only start off as pennies but as the old saying goes - look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves and I have found this to be true when using my Boots Advantage Card.
The card is a white and pink plastic credit card style card. The card has your name and unique 8 digit card number imprinted on the front and a signature box and chip on the back for recognition purposes when putting the card through Boots tills.
As a holder of a few loyalty cards, I believe that Boots Advantage Card is one of the most generous cards on the market at present. For each £1.00 you spend at Boots you get 4 points back. So, if you spend £20.00 in store or on-line you accumulate 80 points.
When spending your points 1 point is equal to 1 pence. So for spending £20.00 you get 80 points which would amount to 80p. I know it doesn't sound like much but the points soon add up should you be a regular shopper in boots. I generally save my points up and spend them at Christmas which can amount to quite a saving, especially when you use them on Boots great 3 for 2 offers at Christmas.
I find nowadays I don't use Boots as much as I used to as I find there are cheaper toiletrie companies out there now but even only using Boots sparingly I have still accumulated over £30.00 on my card ready for this Christmas which will be a huge help to me.
You can also spend your points on the Boots website WWW.BOOTS.COM. Each time you visit Boots your receipt will show your complete advantage card points total and the amount you have gained from that visit. All you have to do is hand your card over to your cashier when paying at Boots and they scan it and your points are automatically added to your card.
The only slight problem I have found when using my Advantage card is that you can't use your points as part-payment on items. Should you wish to use your points to pay for items in store you have to have accumulated enough points to cover the complete cost of the items you are purchasing.
Overall I can't see how you can fail to get an Advantage card. Registration is free and can be done on the Boots website or just pick up a leaflet in your local Boots store. Your card will arrive within days and you just simply have to start shopping to earn your points.
In my opinion it is easy money. Its the same concept as getting cashback on the products you buy so basically its money for nothing - and who wouldn't want that!!!! Recommended
Summary: A must have loyalty card

- 13/08/09 I knew you could earn points when shopping online but I'm sure I'd read somwehere that you couldn't redeem them. They must have changed things :-) |
