Advantages: Free points give that equal 4p in every pound spent in store or online...

Disadvantages: None, it's fab!

I have recently got a Boots Advantage Card as I have heard and read some really good things bout this free card for discounts and 4p per pound back on Boots store purchases.

This little white plastic credit card has a membership number, your name and a gold microchip that you insert face side up in the Advantage card machines that you find in the larger stores.

The machine has a touch screen where you can choose the offers you wish to see currently in store and also offers extra points if you spend so much money, an example would be an extra 200 points which equals £2 off a £15+ purchase.

Other benefits are offers you can find in Boots Advantage card magazine that has seasonal vouchers in the back off certain products.

Using the card at the till point is simple, the assistant simply pops in it the same card reader as you pay via credit/debit cards with and adds the points accrued per transaction. These points soon add up as the company often have triple points weekends, and give some fantastic 3 for 2 deals at Christmas time :)

The card is easy to keep alongside you other cards in your wallet or purse and is very sturdy for long term use.

It does not have an expiry date but the microchip can go faulty over time in which case you ring the 0845 local rate number and request another one of their customer services advisor.

To request a new card to join the free scheme you simply ring the same number and then have a lengthy wait as you are quoted for to six weeks until it arrives through the post.

Meanwhile you can request to have your till receipts validated and then have the points added on when you card arrived. Your receipts are valid for 3 months so that's plenty of time to get them added onto your new Advantage Gold card.

Some people think that Boots prices are not competitive so that is why they can afford to give 4p in every pound as a bonus to their customers, but that's simply not the case.

Their prices are really good on most products and they have some brilliant own brands too so I think it's more a case of rewarding loyal custom...

Five stars for a card that turning nothing into something for the customer :)

Summary: A brilliant card that rewards Boots customers :)
