Advantages: Fast, Comprehensive Site.
Disadvantages: None so far.
Oh good. Yet another online bank being launched. Will this one be any better? Well yes and no. Cahoot was launched a few weeks ago by Abbey National as thier 'Internet Bank'. I first discovered Cahoot from a news article about how their site had broken down due to the number of people trying to signup. Not a good start really but their offer of 0% interest on your credit card / current account overdraft for a year is just too tempting to give up on. I kept trying to access their application forms but continually received an error so I sent off an email to them and the next day (a lot quicker than Egg has ever replied to any of my emails!) received a reply telling me why the error was occuring and what to do to fix it. It turns out that their site uses 128bit encryption and there was some bug with IE5 that prevented it from working. A quick visit to MS and a download later and all was well. I filled in all the form, selected what overdrafts and credit limits I wanted then continued. Got accepted and within a couple of days had a welcome letter and a contract to sign and return. I did so and about two days later received two emails welcoming me to Cahoot and saying that my cards had been sent. Another two days later and I received my cards. One point I'll make here is that I received my Credit Card, Debit Card and PIN's for both (all in separate envelopes but obviously from the same company) in one set of post. Had the cards been active I would have been concerned that they weren't sent recorded delivery but since the cards are useless until I confirmed receipt on their site I was ok with their delivery method. The Cahoot web site itself is very easy to use and very comprehensive, offering many more features than the Egg site. All they need to do now is offer a few more services, such as mortgages and maybe share dealing and you'd have the lot at Cahoot. All in all from m
y experience so far Cahoot is pretty good and is easily a match for Egg and more.
