Advantages: Handy credit card
Disadvantages: Bad cutomer service, no point sending £200 to get £200 credit limit
I recently applied for a capital one Visa card.
My friend had recently got one, and I liked the idea that they were a well known company and that you could also choose from different card designs.
I got a reply back from capital one a few weeks later stating that I had been accepted for a capital one classic visa card, and that I just had to sign and send back the enclosed credit agreement and my card would be sent out to me.
After sending this back, I got a reply again a few weeks later, ststing that my card would be sent out to me "as soon as I sent them a cheque for £200!!!!" The credit limit on the card they wanted to give me was only £200 anyway!
I feel that I was traicked into sending the credit agreement back, as no mention was made of having to pay this at the time of being accepted for the card. I actually worried that as I had sent back a signed document, they may be able to make me pay them this money.
Eventually, I received another letter saying that as I had not paid them , my card had now been cancelled. Overall, I think that this was both stupid and insulting on behalf of the compant to treat potential customers like this.
Summary: Find another card, or just spend your £200 cash!

- 06/08/05 I am not sure what to say about this. £200 is a very low limit and I have never heard of a card company wanting a deposit. |
