Advantages: None whatsoever Disadvantages: no point having a Direct Debit with them very rude and dont understand English Hi I have a major problem with CO going back to Feb this year (2007) I went on holiday to Sri Lanka on the plane home as you do I bought duty free but handed the flight attendent the wrong card (Capital One Card) I knew I was near my limit on it but it was too late to cancel the transaction as it had gone through. I received a letter from saying I had gone over my limit by £1.74 they charged me £70.00 on top for going over my limit tried to ring them but got through to India and as usual they could not understand what I was saying. So I thought ok i pay by direct debit they will take it out of my account at the end of the month like all the rest of the credit card companies but no this did not happen they took the normal direct debit amount and continued to charge me seperately for the over the limit amount. So I sent an email of complaint never heard back while this was going on I unfortunatley found out I had Cancer and was admitted into hospital I have been in hospital up until 14/11/07 in this time I received 10 to 15 phone calls a day from Capital One I have caller ID on my landline and it counts every unanswered call so you can imagine my surprise when I finally got out of hospital! I answered the first call last week and again it came from India I told them that I was feeling harrassed and that I paid by direct debit etc and that I had been in hospital since March with Cancer the guy just put the phone down on me. Had another call and again I told them the same thing and he said he didnt understand what cancer was etc and I then put the phone down on him! Please has anyone had the same thing happen to them and what did you do if you have?? I have now complained to the Financial Ownbusman as I really can deal with all of this after being so seriously ill. What is the point of paying by direct debit. Since Feb I have paid a minimum of£40 a month by direct debit and the amount has not gone down it has stayed st the limit of £800.00 how can this be? Summary: dont bother with them |
