Advantages: Cheap, nice shiny card.
Disadvantages: Lack of follow up when things go wrong
*Another Update* got another identical FC form from them this weekend! Also after cancelling my previous card and receiving a new one, the minimum payment I've made has been credited to my new card, which I've not used yet, and shows my full credit limit. This months statement, pertaining to my new card, now says NIL minimum payment to make and my new card is in credit! It's like theyv've forgotten about the £2000 I ran up on my old card...if you get what I mean. *Update* have today received a Fraud Confirmation Form. However only two of the fraudulent transactions have been noted. There's an interesting note on the bottom saying "If we have advised you to do so, please fill in the name of the police officer and station that you reported this incident to". I reported it to plod at Lancaster/Preston, their reply-"We don't get involved with this sort of thing, it's down to the credit card company" The police were not in the slightest bit interested.* I was attracted to Capital One Platinum because of their ridiculously low rate at the time 3.9% or something. After receiving my mthly bill in May-I discovered 3 fraudulent transactions amounting to a few hundred quid. I have never used my Cap One card on the net or over the 'phone. I traced the companies who had sold the goods, orders had been placed by a guy using all my card details and his own e:mail address. After 'phoning the e:mail provider in the US they confirmed that it was an active account and yes they had his name, address etc..I passed all this info onto Capital One Fraud Dept for them to do their worst. They thanked me for my endeavours, suggested I should go and work there! said they would send a form for me to fill in details of the fraudulent transactions. This was nearly 3 months ago....not a peep. They sent a new card but I'm still waiting for a new PIN. I've lost count of the number of calls
I've made. In the meantime I still have to pay the minimum amount, which includes this guys shopping spree.

- 06/02/02 Sorry about rating but your op is not a lot about CapitalOne, more about just one incident. Hope problems are resolved now. |
