Having had a very bad purchase experience using our Capital One Visa Card (purchase from Auction World, that's another story and you will be able to read our report) we rang Capital One to see if there was anything they could do. Another card, another free penny a pound spent. I was after a cashback credit card for my daughter; so as to keep her finances separate from mine. Egg initially met the bill, but when they halved their 1% cashback they very rapidly lost our business. I am lucky enough to be able to just pay off my card balances as soon as they are due so ... There are two types of basic credit card in the financial marketplace. Type A - Low interest rate aimed at people who have a track record that they can be trusted. And then there are Type B Cards which are for people who have had financial problems in the past. I'm ignoring the Gold and Platinum cards in my assertion above, because ... Read the complete review

Firstly it starts with a derisory £200 credit limit. I suppose that was fair enough as my credit history is a not the best. Having this card is said to help you improve your credit history what an absolute myth that is. I don’t particularly mind the fairly high interest rates, as the amount borrowed is low. What I do object to us ... Read the complete review

As someone who has never needed to use a credit card until two years ago, I had never given much thought to applying for one until as a consequence of my job I have to travel a lot. I had always subscribed to the fact that if you didn't have enough money to pay for something then you couldn't afford it. (My fathers saying!!) So ... Read the complete review

I’ve been hearing recently a lot of negative things about Capital One. My brother had an account with them a few years ago and said they were awful. I have had an account with them for over a year now, and have not had a single problem. As a student money is a big deal. And although the initial credit limit of £200 is not massive ... Funny how they call this Mastercard the Capital One Platinum - I mean, with a minimum cardholder salary of £10,000, it's not exactly restricted to high-rollers. But no matter, cos it comes with a very generous introductory offer - all purchases are interest free for nine months, and balance transfers are only charged at 6.9% APR for ... I have a Capital One card as I haven't got a great credit rating as my bank refused me, but the teller told me about Capital One. A little time searching on the web and I soon found their site. I filled in the application online it was very straightforward and two days later I received the paperwork to sign and return. One week after that my card ... Read the complete review

Capital One Premier is a good card for people who have no credit history and wish to get a credit card so that their credit performance can be properly recorded. I will keep it brief here due to limited space and for ease of update reason. http://www.mycoupon.freeuk.com/creditscoring.htm The sceneario in UK is very much ... Read the complete review

Until about five years ago, I didnt owe anyone a penny. But, as a young(er) lad, I liked my socialising, my clothes and CD's and was always living on the edge of my wages. When I bought my house, I had to cut back on personal lavishness, as you do, and was managing quite well. Thats when I jumped at the chance of a small ... Read the complete review

I have used a marbles card for a few years and as the balance was getting quite high I decided that money would be saved by transferring my balance to another account. I came across this card which instead of the usual offer of a low interest for the first 6 months on purchases/balance transfers etc, was actually offering a LIFETIME balance ... Capital One…….Be Careful To Pay On Time.. I have a credit card with Capital One and when I clear it I will cut the card up and throw the pieces in the air. I will explain! As with all the other letters I get though the post, I receive quite a lot of junk. Some things are a load of crap, but for some reason I decided to give Capital One a try. I love credit and used to have some catalogues. Thesedays I have paid them off and prefer cards. I have a Visa, but since I am a student it is only a small amount one. ... Read the complete review

Capitol One credit cards As allways the usual stuf was shoved through the letter box and this time my wife decided to avail herself of a Capitol One credit card. At the same time she decided to get an additional one for our daughter who was at University. This was to be used in an emergency by our daughter which she agreed with ... Read the complete review

I applied for a Capital One credit card basically because it was the only one I could get (I was 18 at the time and now am nearly 20). They gave me their basic card with a £200 limit. I did what a lot of people may well have done in my situation - I ended up right up near my credit limit pretty quickly. Ok, I thought, no prob, the minimum ... Read the complete review

Background In today’s world where 90 percent of your buying power is linked to your credit history if you don’t have some sort of credit card your spending power is extremely limited. As a result I chose to apply for this card after American Express turned me down. To my pleasure I was promptly accepted and given a credit ... Read the complete review

As you will probably discover from my ramblings on this site, I am addicted to travel, and go away as much as finances permit, both home and abroad. Upon discovering the Thomsons Holiday Card (backed by Capital One), I naturally thought, yes, more holidays for less, and duly completed my application form on-line. An instant decision was ... This is one of those credit cards that you see advertised for people who can't get one anywhere else. We have had several mailings come through the post from Capital One, for both of my sons who had rather shot themselves in the foot with injudicious use (to put it mildly) of their first credit cards. Fine so they were both 18, had a ... Read the complete review
