Advantages: Free entry to cinemas

Disadvantages: Depends if you get the use out of it

The Cineworld unlimited pass for me is the best thing since sliced bread, me and my partner decided to join up after we realized we would make our money back if we went to the cinema twice a month. Within the first month we had already been nine times, in total this saved us around £100, now you could argue that it didn't really save us this because we wouldn't have gone if we didn't have the pass but the fact remains we did and we watched films that I would have wanted to see anyway.

Joining the unlimited pass is very straight forward and there are two ways to go about it, the first is over the internet. This is the way we did it and it took us around 10 minutes for both of us, all you need to do is go onto www.cineworld.co.uk, click on the unlimited tab and then join. First all of they ask you some important personal details such as address, name, age etc. After that you must upload a picture of yourself, this will appear on the card so they can be sure it is actually you using the card. You have to make sure however that you have a picture with a small pixel rate, it states 120 x 100 pixels although I had a bigger sized one and it seemed to work, but I wouldn't advise anything above 1 megabyte in size. The best way is to use your mobile phone to take one if you have a phone that takes photos. After this is uploaded you go to the next screen where you choose which type of unlimited you want. There is either the standard type or the extended version.

The extended allows you to use Cineworld Cinemas within the West End in London, these cost £14.99 a month. For the majority of people however you will not need this, when I go to London I don't fancy sitting in the cinema, I want to see the city and will no doubt get dragged around Oxford Street shopping. Therefore I would only advise this to people living within the London area. The standard costs £11.99 a month and allows you to access all the hundreds of other Cineworld cinemas within the UK, of which are located in most towns and Cities. After choosing which type you would like you enter your financial details so they can take your monthly direct debit if you wish this to be your method of payment. You have to take out the pass for a minimum of a year so you either pay every month, or pay in a lump sum. There isn't really an advantage to either apart from the small amount of interest you will earn on your cash over the course of a year (around £4). After this you have completed your online application, they will send you an email which is your temporary access method, print out your email and until your proper card turns up you can use this to enter the cinema.

The second method of joining up is to go into your local Cineworld and they will take a photo of you there and then, I believe you also then have to fill in a form which you then hand in, alternately you can fill it out at the cinema and hand it in. After your application has been sent off it will take around ten days to arrive. The card is a standard credit card size and is blue and red with a credit card strip on the back. There is also your picture on the bottom left of the card which they will use to confirm your ID upon entry.

When you want to use your card you simply hand it to the person at the kiosk and they will swipe it through their debit card machine which will show you to be a guest. They will hand you your ticket as normal and you are free to enter the film.

The advantage to having the ticket is if you are bored at home you can go, its free unless you buy any snacks which we don't tend to do (we sneak our own in) and even if the film you see is rubbish you don't mind, its always annoying when you pay £14 and the film is a waste of time. If like me your friends are avid film buffs it can be a good socializing tool, you can meet up and always have something to do without getting drunk and waking up feeling ill. The only problem I find is that you can't preorder your tickets; if you do you will not be able to use your card so you will have to pay.

Overall I would definitely advise anyone to purchase the card if you enjoy going, also for anyone who hasn't got a lot of spare cash like us who have a new house, it gives you something to do, and you don't feel bad watching the same film twice or even three times if you enjoy it.

Convenience - 9/10
Price - 9/10
Ease of use - 9/10

Summary: Well worth having if you have some free time!
