Advantages: Cheap if you go alot, easy and simple to use.

Disadvantages: Price increases every so often.

The Cineworld Unlimited card. What a great idea for cinema goers. In a previous career, I used to get quite a few days off with my colleagues and we would generally go to the cinema and then for food. This started to prove expensive for a while, until one of my colleagues suggested the unlimited card.

Having no idea what one was, I asked the question of a staff member at our next cinema trip. I was informed that for a fee of £11.99 a month, I could see as many films as I wanted. Pretty simple really. I signed up there and then and it was a very simple process. A quick form to fill in, pose for a picture and wait. After a short period, I was handed a grey card with my picture and name on. That was it, I could use it straight away and the form I filled in was used by them for bank details for a direct debit.

It really was that simple. Took all of 5 minutes at the time. I don;t know if the process has changed, as it was a few years ago now that I got mine. So every month, I would have £11.99 disappear out of my bank account. When you say it, it sounds a fair amount. When you actually look at it properly, that is 2 films a month and you have recuperated your money.

I was going to the cinema around 4 times a month, so it worked out perfectly for me. Some days we even saw 2-3 films. On one occassion, we started watching one film, decided it was rubbish and got more tickets for something else straight away and went to view that.

When you go to the cinema, you just show your card, they swipe it and then give you a ticket for the film. Another very simple method that works well.

The only gripe I ever had with the card, was the fact that every so often you receive a letter stating the price is going up. After a while, we stopped going to the cinema and I hadn't use my card for a while, so decided to cancel it. At the time, (2 months ago), the price was £13.99 a month. Not a massive increase and again, if you view 2-3 films a month, then you are not losing out on money.

To cancel, I cancelled my direct debit, wrote a short letter asking them to cancel the account and sent that, with my card to the address on the original contract I signed, which is the form you fill in on the day you open the account. A rather simple and no hassle method of cancelling.

I would say get this card if you 1:go to a Cineworld and 2:go to the cinema more than twice a month most months. If not, then I wouldn't bother as it is cheaper to just buy tickets when you do go.

Summary: Mainly for cinema 'groupies'.

I'd been tempted to go for this but never known anyone who had - now I can head out to cineworld and pick one up knowing it's a good idea and easy to cancel! Thank you for a great review.
