Advantages: Great Value For Money
Disadvantages: No Major Issues
I've been using the Cineworld card for a couple of months now. If you're a regular cinema goer, and you have a Cineworld near to you then it's a definite way of saving money and bringing your film viewing costs down. I work it out that if I make more than two trips to the cinema a month, then it's already paid for itself near where I live.
It costs £13.50 a month and it's fairly easy to do. If you're one of the unfortunate few who live in London near to Leicester Square or Haymarket then you won't be able to use it at that price, but even then if you pay £16.50 instead then you will be able to.
The set up and maintenance is made as easy as possible. I did my application online and it made the process simple. The form is filled out and you upload a picture of yourself to the application page which is then posted to you on a card as proof of membership. You have to pay by direct debit and the forms are filled out there and then and all take care of themselves. the card takes about three working days to arrive but in the meantime you can print out a paper authentication for use in the meantime and begin using it straight away.
For me the benefit is savings. If you go more than twice then it either already has, or is about to pay for itself and really brings down the cost of going to the cinema. When you use it, it's easy by handing over your card instead of cash and the tickets are printed out for you.
Secondly, it can be used for all the releases in the cinema, even on release days when you would imagine that they'd give priority paying customers first. I find you're really looked after and can just go in there and watch anything whenever. It's a great way to kill an afternoon if you've nothing to do and are feeling restless.
Thirdly, the ongoing service is great too. I regularly get emails advising me of what's on and when it's due for release and makes it handy for preplanning your visit. Also you get discounts with the card. For example last month was 2 for 1 at a restaurant so long as you produce the card so it goes to making a night out even more cheaper.
Also when you join up you select your home cinema, but you can use it in any throughout the country (except Leicester Square and Haymarket if you have the lower version card). I use mine in three nearby depending on who I'm with and it's just as easy in all three.
There's some small downsides. Firstly, you can't pre book and you have to queue up for the tickets for your film each time. But, considering what you get it's a small concession to make. Also, you're tied to a 12 month contract so make sure you're definitely committed to a year before getting this if you're not like me.
Overall though, it's wonderful value for money and a great way to make savings and have a few cheap nights out.
Summary: A Great Money Saving Tool
