Credits Cards This is a tricky topic to discuss really, becuase these things can cause major-major problems for some, but if handled correctly can be really great. Credit cards work by buying things on credit, so you buy whatever it is you want and don't have to pay for it until the end of the month. This is fine if you afford to pay off whatever it is you bought that month with your wages, but if not, then you area starting down a slippery slope. The main flaw with these cards is that the people that really need these cards should not be the ones to get them. If you cannot afford to buy something, you shouldn't be buying it in the first ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review my experiences of credit cards (179 words)

I think Credit cards if used in the right hands are very useful. I can only tell you about my experiences with them. I first started off with bank of ireland card and it was so useful as some weeks obviously i had less money to put my hand to and could buy things and then pay montly. We all know how they work and the good points come about if you have the discipline and sense to make sure you pay it off every month, beware of the problems that arise however if you dont pay it off. It can begin to feel like sometimes it isnt your own money and sometimes it can be easy to go mad with it. Also try your best to get 0% deals that are out there and transfer balances so that at ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Credit Cards in general: they have advantages and dis advantages (165 words)

Credit cards in general are very useful, for example if you buy something online i think you have slightly better protection if you pay using a credit card. They are good if you can get a 0% deal aswell so you are not paying interest. Its when they are abused that they start to give people trouble. The important thing to remember is you need to pay back what you spend, its not free money although it may seem like it at the time. Once interest is added on, if only the minimum payment is made the balance never really clears (well it does but will take years) and you could end up paying more in interest than what you actually spend. People need to be sensible with them and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Good for some (262 words)

Credit cards have a bit of a stigma attached to them and especially in the recent credit crunch they have been blamed for a large amount of the debt that people are in. Lenders are also been blamed for giving people such high credit limits and also approving applications when the person has multiple credit cards or a large amount of outstanding debt. I have always had a credit card but rarely use it except for when i have had to make large payments over the phone and occasionally when i have been abroad. I think if you are responsible and disciplined with a sensible attitude towards spending then credit cards can be used to your advantage, giving ...  Read the complete review

Credit Cards have been blamed as a key reason for people getting into debt but I'm not sure if the blame has been correctly placed. I have had a credit card (Tesco Mastercard) for the past 7 years (since I was 18). I have never got into debt with it or never been able to pay off the whole amount at the end of the month. My main reason for getting the card was that it game me extra points on my shopping at Tesco and also extra points on whatever else I bought. For me the card has been excellent. It means I don't need to carry cash around and worry about it getting stolen. I also get an extra months interest on my savings, if I used cash I wouldn't ...  Read the complete review
