Advantages: Extra money when it is really needed.

Disadvantages: They are easy to abuse.

I can remember the days where the only people that had credit cards were people with plenty money and they did not really need the cards they were just status symbols, these days however pretty much anyone can have a credit card and they do not just come from banks like they used to many years ago either it seems everyone and their dog is now offering us credit cards.

Some people see them as very dangerous and a pathway to serious debt but this is of course nonsense. A credit card is like a gun it is only dangerous in the wrong hands, I have one credit card from my bank with a very high limit on it, I have never been near the limit and only use it for emergencies therefore no danger.

It is the people that insist on having several cards and paying one with the other and that will use them for everything from paying for the petrol for the car to sticking them behind hotel bars when they cannot actually afford to be out drinking in the first place that make these cards dangerous.

If used properly a credit card can be a good friend and a sense of security that should some extra money be needed it can be found, if used incorrectly they can become the ruin of you so it is your choice people if you have no self control then better you stay clear of credit cards if you can control your spending sensibly then they hold no fears for you!
