Egg Useless
I have had an Egg credit card for about 6 years and have found them to be useful and helpful. BUT recently their performance has dropped an astronomical amount. They dropped TWO big clangers on my account and instead of apologising and rectifying the problems their response was basically....Tough.
Firstly I changed by DD online in December (I usually pay the full balance outstanding) however, unbeknown to me, the online request didn't actually go through. Result? they took £2k out of my bank account. I spoke to them as soon as I found out and their reply was that "the computers are down at the moment, please call back at 10am". I called back at 10am only to be told "the computers are down at the moment, call back at 12noon".
I explained the situation and the Egg advisor stated that the easiest way to resolve the problem was to ask my bank to pull back the DD (as per the DD guarantee). Which I did and Lloyds were wonderfully helpful.
Next minute Egg are charging £16 for an unhonoured DD - despite the fact that I made a payment on my switch card on the same day to cover a minimum payment. Their response? tough.....under the Ts&Cs of your card we are entitled to charge on unpaid DD. Despite my protestations to their advice to call back the DD their stance was still - tough!
BTW Lloyds agreed to waiver the charges on my Bank Account for going over my overdraft thanks to Egg.
Summary: Make a note of who you speak to and what they said
