Stay away at all costs! (Egg Card)

Advantages: Erm, none. Disadvantages: Rubbish customer service!
I took out an egg card for th 0% balance transfer. I wanted to transfer about £2000 from one of my other cards where the 0% was coming to a close. Egg gave me a limit of £750 (wooh) and in the year that i have had the card, despite making all my payments on time and paying more than the minimum, they will not raise my credit limit. So I used the limit I had to make a balance transfer of a store card for £300. Well, this was June last year, and I'm still sorting out the mess in January 2009. Basically, when I phoned to do the balance transfer, the woman who I spoke to said she didnt need the card number, just the company who the store card was with and my name. I asked her, several times, was she sure she didnt need the card number. she said she was sure. Well - you guessed it, the store card never received the money. Yet Egg had added the £300 on to my balance. I got threatening letters from the store card saying if I didnt pay they would take me to court, I had to repeatedly give them all the detals of the transfer, date, amount etc, and they still couldnt find it. I made so many phonecalls to egg and the store card, my phone bill was huge. In the end I had to egg to get a bank trace done to prove that the money had been sent. Once the store card had this they agreed to credit my account with the £300, but said they still couldnt actuallty find the money. God knows what happened to it! I am in the process of trying to get some compensation out of Egg for their mistake, but when you have to wait three or four days for a reply to your secure messages, its slow going. Summary: Do not use them! |
