Advantages: Easy to apply, efficient service, low balance transfer rate for 6 months

Disadvantages: Balance transfer rate isn't for the life of the balance

Applying for an egg savings account was my first brush with online banking and after that was so quick and easy I decided that I would try their egg card. Applying was again easy and soon the card arrived in the post.

However I think applying for an egg card after you have set up a savings account is easier than if you have had no previous dealings with egg. I also transferred a balance from another credit card which was again dealt with in an efficient manner.

The low balance transfer rate only lasted 6 months so it was a bit of a shock when it ran out! However even when it did the variable apr still seemed quite competitive and certainly no where near the apr's of the more traditional credit card eg Barclaycard either.

You do get a nice amount of cashback, which is increased if you shop at certain online stores which is a bit of a bonus. Also it has no yearly fee.

Saying all this I no longer use my Egg card as there are so many others that have much more competitive rates - American Express and Capital One are two examples.
