Advantages: Up to 3% cashback, No annual fee, Easy to access online statements

Disadvantages: Must print your own statements, if required

I have had an Egg credit card from the very beginning. The main advantage for me personally is being able to keep track of my spend online using the online statement facility.

At the moment they have a very good offer on balance transfers - 6 month's interest free for balance transfers for accounts opened between 1st June and 31 August 2001 provided you transfer the balance over by 31 October. Transferring the balance can be done easily online by entering in the card details. It can take up to 10 days to do this.

The interest rate is 11.99% which is fairly low compared to other cards. In addition you will get 1% cashback on everything you spend. This is paid back to your card in September. If you shop online at the Egg Shop where you have access to a wide variety of retailers you will get an extra 1% cashback making 2% cashback in all.

To get an extra 1% cashback Egg have introduced the Egg Wallet. It is designed to make online shopping safer and easier. By using Egg Wallet no credit card details are passed to the retailer as you just enter your Egg Wallet number and your name and delivery address. Again you would have to use it in the Egg Shop and at the moment you can only use it with selected retailers. I noted two that caught my eye - CDWow and Country Bookshop. Egg say that more retailers will be joining the Egg Wallet scheme shortly.

Other advantages:
- I have found this card easy to use - you can change your payment options easily online too. For example, if you usually pay your balance off in full you can change it to paying the minimum fairly easily. At the moment mine is set up to automatically debit my bank account with the full balance. This means that I never forget to pay it and incur charges.
- No annual fee!
- Easy to amend your bank details, change address online.
- If you have Egg savings/investment accounts you can view balances at the same time.

One disadvantge of
the card is that you have to print out statements as you are not sent statements by post or email but Egg have made it is easy to print a printer friendly version.

I would recommend the Egg Card and Egg in general to anyone. Although they are an online bank you are still able to speak to one of their operators on the phone which can be reassuring.

Sandra, I'm sure that like me you're very disappointed to hear from egg that cashback is now being reduced to just 0.5% on ALL purchases from 11th October.

Egg claim this is in response to listening to their customers and that their new egg rewards scheme is will give customers even more benefits.

I'm afraid I'm not convinced.

Anyon e wanting a card just for the cashback should no longer head for egg there are much better deals.
