I have had my egg card for about two years. There were considerable problems with opening the account and, after receiving four cards, I got one that worked.

I pay the balance off each month and so the chance to receive 1% back was very attractive. But, like many other financial institutions, once they have your business they reduce the rates offered. For this reason, I have opened a platinum cash-back card with another card that offers 0.5% on purchases up to £1000 and then 1% thereafter. It can be managed on-line.

I read recently that a person is more four times more likely to get divorced than to change their credit card, and the bans are relying on this. My advice is to look around and get yourself a better deal.
