Advantages: Website intuative, Very Good information on products, Secure
Disadvantages: Payment to other cards
I orginally joined the Egg credit card when I searched around the web sites looking for a cheap credit card, with NO ANNUAL fee. After considering a few cards such as RBS Advanta, Marbles, LloydsTSB Gold, Barclaycard and Egg, I decided to plump for Egg Credit Card. My reasons were : six months interest free credit on balance transfers, 14% on card transactions and intuative (easy to use wbesite). I had been concerned about the Egg cards breach of security a while back, but was assured over the phone and on the website that the service was much more secure with the introduction of a pull down menu for date of birth, when logging in. With the backing of Prudential I considered that they had much to lose if this was not the case. [Egg has won the yell.com award for The Best Finance Site in 2001.] The application form took approximately 15 minutes to fill in (I type slowly!). The acceptance decision took 1.5 days to get back to me and my card arrived in a week., from the initial application. To enter the website when you have been accepted; requires you to input your exact details that you filled in on the initial application form:- - Your first name - Your last name - date of birth by "pull down menu" - Your mother's maiden name, and - Your postcode. I have used Egg online banking for a year now and I have no complaints with them unlike MBNA and others. I initially started with 0% six month free finance which surprisingly went by very quickly. The interest shot up from £0, £10.25 and then to £48.50 when the last and biggest transfer interest free period ran out. Fortunately I had some good fortune and was able to reduce my sums owed. Egg has been efficient, when phoned was met with friendly telephone staff, and very quick to respond to my quieries. On one occassion I had a quiery concerning an entry for a company name that was not known to me. Instantly suspected fraudulant use
, I emailed Egg immediately. Within 20 minutes I received an email answer from thier customer services stating that they were looking into the matter. TheY then got back to me with an address for the company concerned, it was then I realised that I had actually made the transaction for flowers, but the company was trading under a Car Dealers name.... Since first using the Website there has been two updates to the format, the latest being one of the best bank websites I have visited, very intuative and responsive (especially on a broadband connection). I particularly like the payment system, DD to card or transferring balances is so easy. I have had no miscalculations to date and all DD / SO have been paid ontime. I will be remaining with Egg Credit Facility unless a reasl killer of a deal comes out with a good website access to boot. You can choose to pay the minimum payment (2% of balance or min £5.00), a fixed amount (say £50 if min. is £20) or pay the balance off completely. To transfer a balance from another card you simply enter the details of the account number and the amount you want to transfer onto the Egg Card. It takes around five days to appear on your statement and seven to disappear from the transferred card. If your interested in the extra incentive there is a 1% cashback on credit card use (not the transfers!!) and some special deals with an array of businesses if you use the Egg card with them. If you are interested then I suggest a visit to the website is in order "www.egg.com". If there is no doubts "cos' you trust me" then to apply; an application can be filled out on the website "www.egg.com". To be eligible for an egg card facility:- 1) You must be over 18 2) A permanent UK resident. 3) Contact email address 4) Have a bank or building society account which will accept Direct Debits. 5) PC compatible support by 128 bit
SSL encryption for security. 6) To fill out the application form make sure you have any Bank or Building Society account details available for the Direct Debit part. Also details of your income and your employer's address. 7) One more thing they require details of the addresses at which you've lived over the last two years. "Warning" remember when you transferred the balance(s) frOm another card or you might be in for a surprise..... !:0. Happy hunting :))
