We have an Egg credit card. We can bank online with all the usual features (though Egg appears to have spend some time making the whole thing quite witty). The staff online that contact you by Email are excellent, the rates are good, and generally it's a great card. Nuff said. So last week my car fails an MOT, and I decide its a write off. As it happens, I find one the next day, £4000, one owner, VGC FSH GSOH etc.

One problem - 4K in change I have not, so I looked at finance. Then almost died when I read the terms. Now this car ain't gonna be on that forecourt long, and I still need transport to sign on, so I'm sweating a bit.

I paid the deposit by Egg card, and checked my statement on line later to make sure I had enough leeway, if need be to buy the whole car on the Egg card if need be, and I did. But I noticed Egg loans.......

I applied by phone (it took an hour, but that's OK)on a Thursday. I was accepted a silly low rate, the paperwork was with me the following day and today, (sunday) I get a phone call asking me where to put the money. How fast is that?

Other advantages of the Egg loans are the flexible payment options - I am going to pay double the minimum to reduce the debt quckly, which they think is fine, and should I need to miss a payment for any reason, it's not a problem.
