Advantages: Low APR, Easy online access
Disadvantages: Low cashback
Egg was one of the first internet banks, and they were one of the first to introduce the 0% APR for 6 months. Egg is also one of the few banks who allow you to transfer balances from overdrafts and store cards, as well as credit cards. Very handy for reducing the overdraft! Egg also has a very competitive interest rate, currently 13.9% APR and they also have good loan rates and savings accounts, but that's another story. Egg uses the latest available encryption technology on their website, and they have a complicated log in screen to access your account, including a password, mother?s maiden name and date of birth. Sometimes I think it could be more secure, but it seems to do the job for me. Egg also has an Egg Internet shopping guarantee, meaning that if your details are used fraudulently, without your knowledge or consent, you won't have to pay for any misuse. Also included is free In-Transit Purchase Protection, which protects against damage or loss during delivery of goods purchased with the card. There is up to 45 days interest credit on purchases on the card if the balance is paid in full every month. I have had an egg card for over a year now, and have had no problems with them at all. Their balance transfers are quick and easy and paying extra to my card during the month is also very easy, using my debit cards. The APR also helps, and they are willing to increase my balance, and then decrease it depending on my needs. This is especially useful, that I can lower the limit, to stopmyself getting tempted to run up huge bills on it by spending! Customer services are also quick and friendly. I tend to use email to contact them, and always receive a quick, well informed reply. I would recommend egg to anyone as a credit card, especially those who only use the cards to transfer balances. The lower cashback is a negative, it's currently 0.1%, but since I only tend to use it for balan
ce transfers, it doesn't affect me.
