Advantages: we are perfect for each other
Disadvantages: a little slow to log in sometimes
I have held my egg card for nearly 18 months now, and at this time in a financial relationship, we are usually heading for a breakdown. However, this isn't the case with egg. I myself am astounded by how the manage to meet my standards (probably a little too fussy) but they have and aside form a small tiff over their website access, we are very happy together... still! If you will allow me to take you back to the beginning, I was attracted to egg through a leaflet they sent through my door. I had recently broke up with MBNA, and although TSB had always been there for me, i was never that keen - a bit expensive you see...;) Now egg offered me VERY low interest rates. This may not be applicable to some people but I can admit that I'm not quite Mary Poppins (practically perfect in every way), and I do tend to leave a balance on at least one of my credit cards. Egg told me that I could transfer my existing balance from MBNA at a promotional rate of 0% interest for 6 months, and after then we could take it steady at just 6.9% What's more, they not only offer fabulous incentives like low interest rates, and even lower balance transfer interest rates, but they also run a cash back scheme. This means you get 1% cash back on everything you spend plus, ,if you shop through the stores in the egg.com shopping pages you get an even better 2%! These stores include WHSmith Online, BOL.com and many other big names. Egg also provide special offers and best buys which are targeted especially at egg card holders. Plus, their paperless agreement means there are no silly forms to compete or junk mail cluttering up your hall! (Yes NatWest I am talking to you... how many leaflet a week do you think I need?) All of your payments, transfers, statements and everything are done online, which is ideal for people like me, who can't usually get to a bank during office hours. You can also call them, but they will charge you if it is a
request that could have been completed on the site. Overall, I think the egg card is really a necessity for those who make a lot of online purchases as their internet security policy is second to none. I keep meaning to investigate their joint venture with boots (another of my favourite cards!) so expect an update if I ever get around to it! Now raise your glasses to egg and me, sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g...;)
