I originally applied for my Egg card online and i manage my whole account online too which is one of the things that attracted me to to Egg in the first place. The online application was simple and i completed it quite quickly. Then i received an email to say i had been declined which i was quite surprised about as i have a good credit ...

Welcome to Browns Britan, Bank of England rate 0.5%, Eggs rate 26.9%, Egg card is a rip off (rotten egg), they have hiked up my interest rate by over 10% in the last few months, its now at 26.9%, also my montly payments keep going up even though I make payments each month and dont spend on the card so the balance is actually going down yet still the payments go up, how does that work?

Bank of England rate 0.5%, Eggs rate 26.9%, as I say welcome to Browns Britain, they do it cos no ones going to stop them least of all this wet goverment.

I've been using a Egg Money credit card for around 6 years now. I do always pay the bill at the end of the month though so I've never suffered any interest charges or penalties. I use the card to my advantage, by spending on it throughout the year and paying the bills on time I actually made £87 in cashback. I have also found over the years that ...

As is the case with many customers, I signed up to egg about 3 years ago, as a way of transferring an existing credit card balance and taking advantage of their 0% interest offer. This was fine while it lasted and the card and balance transfer was easy and painless to set up via their website. However, since the 0% period ended, egg ...

I took out an egg card for th 0% balance transfer. I wanted to transfer about £2000 from one of my other cards where the 0% was coming to a close. Egg gave me a limit of £750 (wooh) and in the year that i have had the card, despite making all my payments on time and paying more than the minimum, they will not raise my credit limit. So I used the ...

WHY I CHOSE THE EGG CARD. Well six years ago we were going on a six week trip to the USA and I hate to take cash or travellers cheques so I wanted a credit card that I would be able to use while I was out of the country and I would not be charged excessive amount for using it while abroad. While looking a different offers ...

Egg Useless I have had an Egg credit card for about 6 years and have found them to be useful and helpful. BUT recently their performance has dropped an astronomical amount. They dropped TWO big clangers on my account and instead of apologising and rectifying the problems their response was basically....Tough. Firstly I ...

Well I didn't even realise the interest rate had been hiked up so thanks for that info! I thought they had to tell you?? I'll be paying my card off next month anyway so good riddance to them I say. I too didn't think I'd ever be writing a review about a credit card, but they are completely irresponsible lenders and I have recently had a very bad experience with them after being a loyal customer for years. They are sneaky and have become even more so presumably due to the current economic climate. I will certainly be complaining to the FSO if I get any grief off them when I come to close my account! STAY CLEAR!!! The term 'bad EGG' must come from somewhere....

I applied for my Egg card a few years ago as there was an offer on balance transfers and 0 % on purchases for a few months, so it looked like a good deal. The plan was always to transfer from my existing credit card and to pay it off as soon as possible so I didn't start paying the interest which is extremely high. It was easy to apply ...

I never thought that i would write a comment about a credit card. I have just closed my Egg card account for good. The interest hike to 21.9% wasn't the only thing. Closing the account was another nightmare, as they added interest again and again, so that the account never got closed until i finally had to shout down the line, which really is not my kind of way of talking to people. It was as if they had no idea of what they were doing and didn't care. Besides, i find it a terrible thing to call you customer by their first name. Even if you have the choice. And the torture of going through the computer authorization, even when you call on their abroad number. This is business, lets face it, we are not one happy group of friends.

Egg Credit Card - definitely don't go there!! As a loyal customer for 5 years I was rewarded by an interest hike from 17.9% to 21.9%. I was not informed and only spotted the change on my monthly statement by chance. When I approached them they told me that they were reviewing individual accounts and that the increase could not be reversed as it was due to 'current market position'. They were very unhelpful and blunt on the phone. Fortunately I was working on a zero balance each month, so had the power to walk away. I have now cancelled my Egg Credit Card. I obviously wasn't making money for them. Avoid Egg at all costs, they are bullies and thieves and do not deserve your custom. Be warned!

Citigroup have just done the same to me - cancelled the card with no warning when it ran out end of February. I don't always pay off in full every month, credit rating is good, but if they can afford to lose interest of £160 per month over say a 2-3 year period, and multiply that by the 100,000 or so customers, they must be the most incredibly stupid bank walking the planet. Not sure how they think this will improve their profits during the credit crunch, and incredibly short-sighted in that those very people who pay them large chunks of interest each month are their very bread and butter! Never mind, I shall pay off the full bill now, when the markets pick up and they are looking for new customers don't knock on this door

Egg canceled my card: I have always paid in full and paid every month on time for 6-7 years! Even having allegedly checked with Experian, they were unwilling to tell me why ...

I suggest all affected cancel their Direct Debit and ask Egg to send a statement every month. Send a cheque on receipt of the statement.
This will cost Egg at least £1 per person per month.
Say £160,000 a month.

Don't get a egg card unless you pay the bill at the end of the month. They are very expensive and the APR works out higher than advertised. They are one of the most expensive cards on the market and they don't mind hicking the interest rate up for no reason at all, except they want more profit. Avoid you are warned!!!!!!

Credit cards are aiming to be more and more competitive. It’s a sign of the times, and it’s fantastic news for the consumer. Credit card spending is now recognised as a powerful retail tool, no more so than for online shopping where having a credit card is virtually essential.
