Advantages: Earn loads of Airmiles

Disadvantages: My first cards never turned up!

A couple of months ago I decided it was time I got myself a grown up cedit card rather than the rather rubbish one I took out as a student and which I've got into trouble on a couple of times. I'm a Lloyds customer, and they had already told me I was pre-approved for their Airmiles Duo card, so I read about it online and then applied.

The Airmiles Duo card features two cards on the same account - and American Express and a Mastercard. For every £10 you spend on the Amex, you get one Airmile, and you get one Airmile for every £50 on the Mastercard. So the Amex is better for collecting, but it isn't accepted everywhere so you have the Mastercard as backup. But the beauty is it's one account, one credit limit between the two cards, one statement and one monthly payment - but two cards t choose from.

I had a bit of hassle getting the cards - I recieved a pin number first, which no indication which of the two cards it was for, or even that it was for my Airmiles Duo account. After a week I had recieved no cards so I called and reported them lost in the post and Lloyds sent replacements - and told me that the pin I had recieved was nonsense and to destroy it! So I got a card through saying delivery had been attempted but I wasn't in so I called the secure delivery company to get the cards sent to my local branch and I collected them there. The pin arrived separately in the post - incidentally you recieve one pin for both cards, and you can change it yourself at cash machines to have a different pin on each card.

I've had no problems using the cards, except for one security alert which was due to Lloyds being overly jumpy about a number of online transactions on the same website.

I'm really happy with my new credit cards, and I've already built up loads of Airmiles. I've been making payments as I go along, so I get the benefit of earning Airmiles but don't have to worry about a big bill at the end of the month.

I would recommend this, it's practical with the two cards, and it's so easy to earn Airmiles without thinking about it.

Summary: Great to have two cards and so easy to earn airmiles
