Bad service and devious ways to make you pay (MBNA)
Member Name: bendowne
Advantages: None Disadvantages: High charges, interest rates changed at their whim, rude, obstructive staff, misleading information. I applied to transfer balance to MBNA to take advantage of the zero interest rate and set up a direct debit straight away to take care of the minimum payments. They then took over 6 weeks to take the first direct debit payment by which time they had charged me £50 in late charges, withdrawn the zero interest rate and charged me over £200 interest! My complaint was met with truculence and accusations of not managing my account properly. I had to refer it to the Financial Services Ombudsman in the end. If you have the same trouble with them I suggest you do the same, oh and tell Which? or the Office of Fair Trading about them as well. Summary: Make sure you get proof when you make a payment to MBNA. |
