i work for MBNA therefore I must go Anon. Direct debit set up problems are an on going flaw in the system. If a direct debit is set up when you open a new account call back to confirm its been done the next day. I know it's stupid but trust me its the only way to make sure you avoid the late fee and interest charge and your promotional rate turn off. Secrets of MBNA...

1. MAKE SURE THAT DIRECT DEBIT IS SET UP
2. If you have a 0% on BTs and CCCs, DO NOT MAKE A LATE PAYMENT. Your rate WILL be turned off.
3. All customers are graded on how much money they make for the bank. I can't go too much into detail about this but they are more likely to do things for you if you pay alot of interest. Enough said.
