I have had my MBNA card for 7 years. Slowly the statements have changed so that only the first 7 transactions are shown on PAGE 1. The total of these first 7 transactions is shown in BOLD so that at first glance this is the new balance. (it even says "new balance.." by the side).

Only once I paid the "new balance.." total rather than turning over to see the last few transactions and, so, the actual total balance for this month.

MBNA charged me interest and rather smugly told me over the phone (29 minutes later) that they wouldn't take off the interest (a meagre £4.53) and they would not put forward a "suggestion" to make the statements clearer to read by putting the current balance in BIG BOLD numbers on PAGE 1.

MBNA are OK when you keep your head down and keep paying, but as soon as you slip up on misreading their statements they become smug and take an ugly stance.

I have also asked MBNA to reduce the amount of "mail shots" and "customer information" mail they send me. And the never ending "blank" cheques.

Should I reduce my account to zero and look up someone else with the same name and tell MBNA I have moved to my "victim's" address? :)
