Advantages: I don't know . . . the card looks pretty???
Disadvantages: RATES, CUSTOMER SERVICE, HASSLE, BULLYING ETC, ETC, ETC
I would strongly advise against getting card from these - I have three other credit cards but this is the one that I want gone.
About a year and a half ago I was forced to leave my job due to the fact that it was a contract and there wasn't any more work within the company, this obviously led to me experiencing severe financial difficulties.
Now I was willing to accept that the insurance that I had would not cover me when paying off my card, what i wasn't prepared for was the lack of co-operation that I had from this company, after explaining time and time again that I did not have a job I was currently on job seekers allowance and that I would only be able to pay my monthly fee on a different date to the original bill date (bearing in mind that i had phoned them time and time again to TRY to change my payment date) they still continued to phone my home phone and my mobile nagging me for money even though I had said repeatedly that I would be paying it on a certain date, which they claimed to be happy with!!!
At one point they phoned my home phone every day of the week, a minimum of THREE TIMES A DAY!!! At the moment I have managed to gain some sort of control over the situation, I've caught up with all the payments that I missed during that period, and can comfortably afford the minimum repayments, but here's a prime example of how messed up their company is last month my minimum payment was £160ish (I know I know it's A big credit card value and yes it's maxed out), I payed that fine and thought, you know what I have a few extra pennys this month so I'll pay £200 to make it a nice even number, so why oh why is it that my MINIMUM payment this month is £170 when last month it was £160ish with extra money that i had payed towards it.
Funny you would have thought the minimum payment would be LESS than the previous months NOT MORE.
As you may or may not have noticed I am an extremely unhappy customer. I've noticed from previous reviews that I've written that I have a few regulars, to you and anyone else reading this please take notice of what I'm saying . . . Even if you can afford to get a card from these please consider all the other cards out there as if you have a situation like mine come up where you lose your job, then they will bully you and be the most unhelpful people in the world, I have another card with mint and missed three months worth of payments, was to scared to ring them up and explain why because of the treatment I recieved from MBNA, but they actually only chased maybe three or four times in that period I explained to them on the fourth chase about my situation they accepted it and that was it i payed what i owed that month on the date discussed and it was easy. With MBNA i was chased all the time even after explaining to them my situation and asking to change my bill date, these will get you into more debt purely because it seems as though they refuse to listen. I know that not everyone will get into my position but from what I've read from other reviews it doesn't matter. The monthly payments go up rather than down regardless of you missing a payment and there customer service is just as awful to people who pay regularly as it is with people who don't.
SERIOUSLY DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE CONSIDERING THIS CARD!!!
P.S.
I know this review sounds like I'm an angry person but I'm not honest just a bad experience . . . Therefore just so you you know I'm not an angry person here's a smile :-)
Summary: Quite frankly this card and company makes my blood boil just thinking about it

- 19/08/08 I can sympathize with you as their customer service truly sucks. I had a fraudulent charge on my card recently and they were extremely unhelpful in helping me get it removed. They were more interested in trying to sell me their fraud protection insurance policy (or why I hadn't got one in place already), then they were in getting the matter sorted. I cancelled my card with them as soon as I could after that. Hope you manage to shake them off sooner rather than later. Lexy |

- 19/08/08 Interest rate hikes and just the simple fact of compounding can change minimum payments month to month. I believe that MBNA also changed their minimum payment levels recently (a different % required). |
