Disadvantages: I can't leave!

I've been with MBNA for a few years, ever since I got a cheap offer through and signed up, intending to switch when a better one came along. This is quite a flattering credit card for your ego, if you pay on time they just up your credit limit every so often, and keep offering payment holidays (where you don't have to make a payment that month, but still accrue interest - some holiday!). My credit limit soon soared and I'm sure they would assist me to buy a small country if I asked them to, they just want me to run up some credit and whenever I pay the card off or get really low on it, they seem to increase my limit to encourage me to spend, spend, spend. So much for companies having learnt from the mistakes of the 80s.

Recently I decided to switch to a Tesco card as the APR was 4.1% on balance transfers and new purchases until January 2001. So I got the balance transferred off MBNA, left another month to make sure nothing more came through, then cut up my card, wrote a letter cancelling my account, and sent that with the card to them. That was in April. And I'm STILL getting statements, and what's more they've also increased my credit limit AGAIN! I'm starting to wonder whether it's possible to actually cancel this account.
