Advantages: none once the introductory rate is over
Disadvantages: truly terrible service
If your blood pressure is OK when you start out with these people - it probably won't be by the time you've been with them a few months! These must be some of the most noxious, self-satisfied, patronising and downright nasty bankers on the planet! Guess this is not going to be a good review then? It's easy to see how these people make their money - go 2p over your credit limit (on a transaction *they* approved)? That'll be an £18 surcharge. Payment a day or two late? (even though you posted it a fortnight ago)? That'll be another £18 charge. Want a copy of a statement (which strangely arrive late, if at all) - well they'll have some more money for that too. In fact that must be the most annoying thing. I've posted payments three or more weeks before they were due, but somehow they so often end up being late and incurring a charge. It's doubly weird when everything else I post on the same day manages to get where it's going within a normal time span. And if you try to speak to them, prepare to be stonewalled. They must have special MBNA courses in that - how to be utterly and completely unhelpful - whatever common sense dictates. I have dealt with many banks and these definitely win the award for worst-ever. The rate on their credit card isn't even good when the introductory period is over. This is one I won't be staying with

- 23/08/00 You're quite welcome! Actually a friend had a fairly similar experience. She had a card which was taken over by MBNA. As she had a big balance she can't tell them where to go, but has had many of the same problems I have, which didn't happen at all before MBNA took over |

- 23/08/00 Thanks for that one - I was thinking of getting one of their cards. I'll think again! |
