I've never really understood where MBNA's competitive's edge is. They offer few perks (other than giving to charity and Thomas Cook cashback) and they charge a hefty 2.75% commission when you use their cards outside the UK. You can now access your account online though and download in Microsoft Money, which is a nice improvement. ... Read the complete review

The AOL / MBNA credit card is available to AOL members using Keyword "CREDIT CARD". As a card itself, it does everything you expect ... no fee, 56 interest free days, 0% balance transfer offer! Don't forget though, they charge their full rate on purchases from day 1! Oh, and you get a free month of AOL worth £15.99 ... Read the complete review

I've had an MBNA card for 5 years now - all fine until I ran into financial difficulty. For a start, the 29.9% APR made it difficult to pay each month. I requested to remove payment protection to ease monthly payment but was denied, due to me being too close to my limit - which was why I needed it removed in the first place! I received ... I have held an MBNA Platinum Plus Visa card for about three years. During this time they have bombarded my letterbox with junk mail for loans, payment protection insurance, credit card cheques, free gifts when you introduce a friend, etc, etc. I never took much interest in their junk mail, and stuck it all straight in my bin, until one ... I won't repeat the detail of the many (100's?) of cards that MBNA issue (there's some info at the bottom). They not only issue with their own name but 'affinity' cards for seemingly any organisation, where a small 'cut' goes to the organisation. The point of this opinion is to praise their customer services ... Read the complete review

You can't get away from MBNA nowadays. My wife has a couple of bank credit cards whose account handling has now been passed to MBNA. It used to be difficult to get hold of one of these cards years ago, nowadays you can find them affiliating with RSPCA to Formula 1 teams to Universities. Their rates have been unchanged for ... Just a quick one really to say if you are looking for a new card, or balance transfer then this one is definitely the way to go. MBNA Europe is offering a starter interest rate of 1.45 percent for the first six months to get you hooked. If you are paying off the minimum three percent monthly then that’s not a bad deal. Or if you’re ... Read the complete review

I have been with them for 3 years, and I have to say that I have never had a problem. They were the first (and only) Credit Card company to offer me a Credit Card when I turned 18, and because of a good history with them, I have regularly been offered higher credit limits - THE ONLY CREDIT CARD I HAVE THAT DOES THIS. I was late once, so I called ... Read the complete review

I got a MBNA Gold card earlier this year. As I was leaving the country for an extended period I arranged for the bills to be paid in full by direct debit. Well that's what I thought I had arranged. Initially MBNA put me down for a direct debit payment of only 3% of each bill (not a good situation when you are 3000 miles from your statement). ... Read the complete review

I have had my MBNA Gold card, which supports the World Wildlife Fund, for about 4 years. There is no annual charge. The service from MBNA has been very good, and its great knowing that each time I use my card, a small donation is made to WWF too. . Many retailers have commented on the attractiveness of the card - it has a ... Read the complete review

I have held two MBNA cards for quite a few years now (although recently closed one account) as there are more competitive cards on the market Current charge - 18.9%APR for the silver card, 15.9%APR for the Platinum) MBNA, unlike some of their competitors, supply both VISA and MASTERCARD, although in reality, there is little to ... I have only been using MBNA for about three months and i have never had a cause to complain about a charge or a mistake yet... but from reading other opinions, as long as i behave myself I'll find MBNA just right for me. While I was looking for a new credit card and checking out which were offering the best deals on balance transfers, I stumbled across the MBNA card as it was being offered through one of the equestrian magazines that I regularly use for ordering items. MBNA [Background: Credit is everywhere these days and the use of credit cards appears to be more prevalent than ever. Getting an MBNA credit card was the worst investment descion I have ever made. I initally applied for their card because they offered an intial low rate of 9% for 6 months and becasue they offered a credit card cheque book, meaning that you could give anyone a cheque who cannot process credit card transactions. If your blood pressure is OK when you start out with these people - it probably won't be by the time you've been with them a few months! I've been with MBNA for a few years, ever since I got a cheap offer through and signed up, intending to switch when a better one came along. This is quite a flattering credit card for your ego, if you pay on time they just up your credit limit every so often, and keep offering payment holidays (where you don't have to make a payment that ... I like another author on this site have been lured by MBNA's low balance lure. What really did me in though was a free umbrealla, well I say free it has actually ended up costing me £2000. I hold an MBNA visa card, having been tempted to apply for it by the usual carrot of a low introductory interest rate. As another writer has remarked, MBNA are quick to issue credit limit increases.
