Superb card for regular travellers (Nationwide Building Society)

Advantages: Great abroad, No annual fee, Low cash advance fee

The Nationwide Visa card is a great card for regular overseas travellers. Unlike most banks, who charge up to 2.75% commission on overseas transactions (whether you are there in person or it's an overseas mail-order/web transaction), Nationwide charge 0%.

Additionally, their cash advance fee is 0.5% (minimum 50p), which is 1-1.5% less than the norm.

This card has literally saved me hundreds of Pounds over the last 2-3 years.

I never bother taking wads of cash abroad with me these days, I just draw it out of a cash machine when I'm already there. The combination of low cash advance fee and no commission makes it around 3% cheaper to use than even the most competitively priced bureau de change.

Add to this the fact that you can service your account online, and I'd recommend the Nationwide card highly.
