Advantages: None!

Disadvantages: Bad service, High interest

I took out a Natwest credit card at the end of my final year as a student to help with trainfares when travelling to interviews etc. I opted for this card purely because I banked with Natwest and was very impressed with my student account.

Unfortunately, their credit card services have failed to impress. With a high interest rate of 18.9% I have found them to be consistently unhelpful, inefficient and inconsiderate.

After 2 payments I had made failed to be registered, resulting in threatening letters from both Natwest and a debt collection agency, despite phonecalls on my part to try and resolve the matter. No apology was forthcoming for THEIR mistake.

To try and avoid a repeat of the problem, I set up a direct debit for payments - fine for a couple of months, then for some reason 2 payments were not taken!

No reasonable explanation could be given, just demands for backpayments!

Deciding enough was enough, I transferred my balance to another card and chopped up my Natwest ones with relish!!!

It might be coincidence, but so far I haven't met a single person who had not had any problems with NatWest at all. I'll stick with HSBC. Their rates might not be great, but I've always found them to be very helpful and polite.
