Advantages: something back for nothing. dont have to wait for to be given the vouchers

Disadvantages: be nice if a lot more places accepted this card

When you shop in Sainsburys you can use a reward card to get points so that the store will give you a bit of money back.

Look at the Service counter for their Nectar card.

When you get the card the first thing to do is to get it registered. You can do this on line at nectar.com or if you would rather use the landline you can ring their helpline on 0870 4 100 100.

You can now use your card. The shop that you first use your card is your Home Store. This means that when you go and use your card in that store your till receipt will tell you how many points you have. Dont worry though if you use it in another Sainsburys Store, it just means that although your points will be registered you wont see it on your receipt there and then.

Every quarter you will get a statement showing you how many points you have earned and who with. With this statement you will also get a booklet with lots of ideas for using your points and where you can use them and any special deals about to happen.

Everytime you use your card they will swipe it and you will get points.

500 points is worth £2.50.

When you reach 500 points you dont have to "claim" them. You can store them up for something big or just store them up for Christmas. You can claim them and collect £2.50 vouchers so that you can use them in the places that accept them. Or when you have one voucher worth £2.50 you can ask them at the till to knock it off your bill.

Some of the Nectar partners where 500 points = £2.50 are Debenhams, Argos, and Adams.

If you have a Nectar card you can get points on it by using your card at the till in Debenhams, bp petrol, threshers, vodafone (although I believe this might be changing soon) adams, ford, e energy, all.sports, winemark, Hertz, Magnet, Brewers an National Tyres.

If you are going to save your points till you have a good many you can take them to other places. For example you can go shopping in Paris when you have 6000 points or to the flicks for 1,000 points. A main course at Brewsters is 500 points.

One of the best ways to spend your vouchers is on the fun family days out. This is good value for money. You can get entry into any National Trust park or Jorvik. You can use to go to Alton Towers too. this will cost you 3500 for 1 Adult and 1 child. Go careful here though as a lot of papers and the internet give away tickets in a buy one get one free deal and sometimes this will say not to be used in conjunction with other others so you loose out. If though you want to go on holiday book through Lunn Poly and you collect a lot of points and for every 1000 points you get £25 off.

There are some things you cant get points on such as lottery tickets, tobacco, phone cards and even stamps are on this list.

As you have to eat it is worth using a card to get back a little money as it doesnt take a moment for them to swipe the card.

If you forget your card dont worry keep the till receipt and the next time you are in Sainsburys go to the service desk and they will put the points on your card then.

Summary: You can get something back

Have just cashed in my first lot of Nectar points at Argos for a vegetable steamer which was in the sale.( its a brilliant investment ..I love it) I rarely go to Sainsbury's but get nectar points at the Ford garage nearby when our cars are MOT'd or serviced etc and when buying petrol.

Ever quarter? Yeah right, I've had a nectar card for a couple of years and only received 2 statements. Following on from I Like Blue, Vodafone have pulled out too. Good review, kels x
